Child Development Program
General Information
The aim of the Child Development program is to train Child Development Specialists who provide services to children, families, educators and society through theoretical and practical training programs that support all developmental areas (mental, language, motor, self-care, social and emotional) of children between the ages of 0-18 who are developing normally, those with special education needs, those in need of protection (children living in institutions, working, refugees and criminals) and those in hospital.
It is a field that provides information about which knowledge, skills, attitudes and behaviors related to child development should be acquired by children and young people at which age levels, supports all developments of the child (physical, psychomotor, mental, language, social and emotional), makes and implements plans, attaches importance to human relations and empathy, has information about child health and diseases, helps the development and adaptation of children in need of special education; carries out drama, simple physical education movements, music studies, art and mother tongue activities, and applies techniques for getting to know children.
Titles and Jobs of Graduates: Graduates of the Child Development Program can work in nurseries and daycare centers, kindergartens, child protection institutions, hospital playrooms, hotel children's clubs, and private rehabilitation centers. In addition, students who graduate from the program can open nurseries and kindergartens and become business owners. Students who complete their education in the 4-year undergraduate program can work as child development specialists in hospitals affiliated with the Ministry of Health, private educational institutions, guidance research centers, the Ministry of Family and Social Policies and Child Protection Institutions affiliated with the Ministry, love houses, and child and youth centers. Graduates who receive pedagogical formation can be appointed as Child Development Teachers or Preschool Teachers when they receive the required score in the KPSS exam, and they can teach in private institutions.
History: Iğdır University Health Services Vocational School was established in 2008 with the decision of the Council of Ministers. In addition, our school was established with the letter dated 23.09.2009 and numbered 30609 of the Higher Education Council and also with the letter dated 17.02.2010 and numbered 6587. The Department of Child Care and Youth Services established within the Health Services Vocational School started education in 2014.
Our School's Child Care and Youth Services Department started its current programs in the 2014 academic year by merging the Child Development Program and Child Development (E.Ö) Program, which were previously under the Health Care Services. The Child Development Program was opened in 2009 and started accepting students in 2011. The Child Development (E.Ö) Program was opened in 2013 and students were accepted. The Child Development Program and Child Development (E.Ö) Program are still continuing their education.
Our students take their lessons in practice in the kindergartens affiliated with Iğdır National Education Directorate, as well as in the classrooms of our College.

Double Major / Minor Programs
Double Major Program: Allows students to earn a bachelor's degree in a field they are interested in, in addition to their primary field. In this program, students can complete courses in two different fields and earn a diploma in both fields.
Minor Program: Allows students to take a certain number of courses in a field they are interested in, outside of their major. Students who complete the minor program are given an official certificate in that field; however, this does not mean a second undergraduate degree.

Exchange Programs
It offers students the opportunity to study at another university, either domestically or abroad, for a certain period of time. Thanks to these programs, students have the opportunity to learn about different cultures, develop their foreign language skills and gain international academic experience. The most common exchange programs include programs such as Erasmus+, Mevlana and Farabi.
